Over a Century of Welding, Industrial Gases & Industrial Safety Supplies

Central Ohio Welding has been a part of Ohio’s manufacturing story for more than 100 years. From our beginnings as a small repair facility to becoming a trusted supplier of gases, welding supplies, and technical services, we’ve grown alongside the industries that shape our region.

Our past defines us, but our future drives us. As a 100% employee-owned company, we’re committed to helping customers succeed while investing in our people, technology, and community.

How We Started

Central Ohio Welding Inc. was founded in 1911 as a welding repair shop. A few years later, we began delivering compressed gases and welding supplies across Columbus and the surrounding area. As Ohio’s industrial economy grew, so did we.

Our trucks delivered to manufacturers building military equipment during WWI and WWII, and we supported some of Ohio’s largest industries, including steel and coal, through periods of both growth and decline. Nearly 45 years ago, the company’s founding families began the process of transitioning ownership to our employees. Today, Central Ohio Welding is proud to be 100% employee-owned.

Where We’re Going

We believe in American manufacturing and its rebirth in Ohio. That belief is what drives our continued investment in equipment, facilities, and innovation.

In 2020, we moved into a new, much larger facility in Columbus. In 2021, we launched a modern cylinder fill plant. In 2023, we expanded into propane, and in 2024, we added food-grade certification for filling Nitrogen and CO2. These improvements help us better serve our customers and prepare for the future.

Our Employee-Owners

Every member of our team is an employee-owner. We know gases, welding supplies, manufacturing, construction, and how critical the right materials are in laboratory environments. Our people are constantly training in the newest technologies, including welding automation and laser welding.

That hands-on experience and technical knowledge shape how we support our customers, from product selection to process improvement.

Our goal is simple: to help our customers become more productive, more profitable, and more competitive. We work to solve problems, recommend smart solutions, and act as a true partner – not just a supplier.

Our partnership makes it easier to access essential products closer to where you live and work. We’ll be adding more authorized resellers in the future to continue expanding availability.
